June Montana Lorentz

Montana is born in USA with roots in Tornedalen, Sweden. As a child she travelled to Sweden with her mom and sister after her father passed away. At 12 years old Montana started selling portraits for 3 kr/each, she already knew that she wanted to become an artist.

The art has been central to Montana her whole life. She made art trips through Europe and has been educated in art in Stockholm, amongst other places. Montana has had many setbacks in her life, but overcame it all to be able to do what she loved.

Much of Montana’s art can be found in homes, but also in public places. Among other things, there are monumental paintings to view in Framnäs Folkhögskola and Klövsjö bygdegård. Some art is also for sale, please contact us for more information.

Ongoing exhibition at Havremagasinet

25 October 2025 to 3 May 2026

An exhibition is currently on view at Havremagasinet in Boden that highlights the artist group Bodenskolan. In the exhibition, Montana’s art has been given an especially prominent place. Havremagasinet writes:

The only woman in the group, June Montana, deserves special attention. What would the Bodenskolan have become without her unifying force during the 1950s and 60s – as a teacher, inspirer and driving force for many inquisitive and aspiring artists?
